New Colorado Assisted Living Residence Owner/Operator Online Training Course Launched

Submitted by: aQuire Training & EasyCEU.com

2008-03-27 00:02:15

Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (CAHSA) announced today the release of the first online training course approved by the state for new owners and operators of Assisted Living Residences in Colorado.

Denver, CO (OPENPRESS) March 27, 2008 -- Completion of this training is required by the state Department of Public Health and Environment Health Facilities to own and operate an assisted living residence in the state. This course marks the first time that the course has been available via the internet.

"Being able to access this course online will be a great relief to individuals who live in outlying areas and have difficulty coming to a classroom course," notes Laura Landwirth, Executive Director of the CAHSA. "Most assisted living professionals are extremely busy, and traveling to a central area for classes can be quite challenging - not to mention costly. This online course offers them - for the first time - the ability to learn at their home or office, at a pace that works for them."

The course is being offered through a cooperative agreement with the Institute for Senior Living Education, an e-learning provider of online courses for senior care professionals throughout the US.

"We're very pleased to be able to support the online learner with this new Colorado course," says Sharon K. Brothers, MSW, President and CEO of the Institute. "This course complements our new Administrator training for Texas Assisted Living professionals as well as other continuing education courses we provide through EasyCEU.com. It is a perfect fit for our focus of offering quality online courses for senior care professionals, from administrators, nurses and managers, to direct care providers."

Courses for direct care staff are offered through the Institute's aQuire Training Solutions, a website that just received the Award of Excellence for senior care staff training programs.

"Online learning is beginning to soar in the country, especially for adult learners who are busy caring for their families, while trying to advance their careers," comments Brothers. "We're very excited to be a part of this culture shift, and to offer such high quality courses as this Colorado training course online."

Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging-- Established in 1968, The Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (CAHSA) is the state's largest and oldest nonprofit organization representing providers of housing and health-related service options to Colorado's elderly. More than 250 member organizations belong to CAHSA, including nursing facilities, retirement communities, independent living, HUD housing, adult day and other community-based services.

CAHSA advocates public policy initiatives that support individual rights, quality care, equitable access and reimbursement for seniors. CAHSA is the state affiliate for two national organizations, the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) and the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). CAHSA's website is www.CAHSA.org.

The Institute for Senior Living Education--Founded in 2002 by senior care owners and operators, ISLE-Ed has built a portfolio of senior care educational resources that includes the online staff training system, aQuire Training Solutions, and EasyCEU, a source of continuing education units for administrators, nurses and managers. Training courses are offered online, giving learners the advantage of learning when and where it is convenient for them. All courses are nationally accredited through a variety of licensing boards.
