The new 'Windsong' nursing home in Manly is now fully open, providing a modern high care beds and new job opportunities in the local area. This new aged care facility managed by the Cook Care Group proves to be a contrast to the closure of several Northern Beaches nursing homes in the last 12 months.

(OPENPRESS) October 16, 2009 -- With growing demand for luxury, extra-service aged care beds on Sydney's Northern Beaches, Windsong nursing home at Manly is the ideal choice for families who want superior care for their loved ones while keeping them close to home. Windsong has 82 private, high-care rooms with ensuites, courtyard gardens as well as a secure wing for residents with wandering dementia.

Windsong at Manly is also providing much needed respite beds which are always in high demand especially during holiday times.

Director of Nursing at Windsong, Rachel Fairweather, said demand for the type of facilities that Windsong offers has been even greater than anticipated. "More than 100 people have already toured the new facility in the last six months. Certainly our official opening with author Thomas Keneally AO created a lot of interest. Mr Keneally is a treasure and our residents were thrilled that he could join us."

"Our residents are particularly enjoying the wide range of social activities we have on offer. The Windsong staff have put a lot of time into developing links with the local community organisations including Stella Maris College, Knitting for the Needy, local artists and volunteers. Warringah Library has also been a great support in helping us set up our first resident Book Club which starts later this month."

As well as the first class facilities, Windsong nursing home in Manly is conveniently located to public transport, community facilities and is only minutes from beaches and beautiful Manly Dam.
