(OPENPRESS) June 14, 2008 -- The newest addition to the Niagara Falls tourism landscape, The Mob ToursTM, will open on Saturday June 14, 2008. The tour focuses on the life of former mafia boss Stefano Magaddino and his 50-year organized crime reign.
"We focus on the historical side of organized crime," stated founder Mike Rizzo, "and its ties to Niagara Falls. We don't sugarcoat anything, but it's really a history tour." The 90-minute tour visits the sites of murder, gambling, the homes and headquarters of the Magaddino family.
Rizzo continued: "It was a different time in Niagara Falls when these men ran things. As a former customs agent said in 1958, Stefano ran 'everything in the Falls except the cascades.'"
The tour is 90 minutes long and includes a stop at a museum which includes one-of-a-kind memorabilia from the Magaddino's and the Niagara Falls mafia.
"Over the course of the year," continued Rizzo, "we'll be having special events, such as Dress as a Gangster Day, Stefano Maggadino's death day, and others. We intend on having fun, while providing our guests with some history of Niagara Falls they might not have known."
As a opening weekend special they are offering buy one admission and get one free for any seats not already booked. The tours run Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 1pm, but riders must arrive by 10:50am and 12:50pm in order to be seated, as the tour starts on time. The bus "appears" on 3rd Street between Rainbow Blvd. and Buffalo Ave. near the Daredevil museum at 20 minutes prior to the start of the tours.
