Laura A. Schoppe Achieves International Registered Technology Transfer Practitioner Status
Apex, NC (OPENPRESS) December 31, 2011 -- Fuentek, LLC (http://www.fuentek.com/), a local technology consulting firm that provides intellectual property (IP) management and technology transfer services, has announced that Laura A. Schoppe, president of the firm, has earned a certification from the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP), the international body for professionals engaged in technology transfer. By instituting a certification process for its member professionals, ATTP has established a uniform means of practice, standards and accreditation.
Schoppe earned her certification by demonstrating a track record of achievement and contribution to the profession during her more than 15 years as a technology transfer professional. Since her successful launch of Fuentek in 2001, Schoppe has been the principal investigator or project lead on major technology transfer initiatives for a variety of clients, and under her leadership, the company has grown significantly each year and is now one of the largest NASA contractors in North Carolina.
Schoppe has an extensive background in all aspects of IP management, including valuing the deals, negotiating the business terms, and leading license negotiation activities from transition innovations to new products. She has advised Fortune 500 companies on strategic planning related to their intellectual assets. For example, she performed the intangible asset analysis for three merger and acquisition efforts for one of Fuentek's Fortune 500 clients, analyzing the value of its IP portfolio before the company divisions were sold. She is published extensively in peer-reviewed, thought-leadership publications as well as on the Fuentek blog, and she has been frequently cited as a media source for her expertise regarding technology transfer and running a virtual office. Schoppe has more than 12 years of successful experience in spearheading research for several defense contractors.
"Not only does the ATTP certification provide individuals with international recognition in the tech transfer industry," said Schoppe, "but the program also educates and challenges candidates to develop their knowledge and skills, thus increasing credibility and ensuring excellence. I am proud and pleased to have achieved this milestone in my career."
