R. Baker & Son All Industrial Services Makes Quick Work of Fast Food Project

Submitted by: R. Baker & Son All Industrial Services

2011-01-04 00:11:32

(OPENPRESS) January 4, 2011 -- R. Baker and Son All Industrial Services, an expert rigging, machinery moving and equipment relocation contractor recently completed the rigging of two modular boxes for a Checkers in Staten Island, NY.

The scope of work for the project consisted of rigging two modular units that would make up a new Checkers in Staten Island, NY. The entire facility was delivered to the site as two modular units. The modular units were 25 x 37 x 12 feet in dimension, contained all the necessary restaurant equipment and were pre-wired. R. Baker & Son was tasked with carefully rigging these modular units from the transports onto a pre poured concrete foundation.

Rigging of these units was difficult due to an offset center of gravity caused by the way equipment and utilities were installed in these modular units. A rigging plan was developed to safely address the weights, sizes and center of gravity of these units. Once the in house engineering staff approved the rigging plan, the rigging crews were mobilized to the site to perform the work.

The work needed to be completed in one (1) day in order to maintain project schedule for the client. In order to complete this fast track scope of work, R. Baker and Son utilized a 120 ton hydraulic crane along with a four (4) man rigging crew. Management expertly coordinated the arrival of the transports with the efforts of the rigging crew and crane.

All modular units were safely rigged into their final positions without incident or damage. The client was extremely pleased with the rigging efforts and that the work was completed on schedule.
