On the anniversary of John Lennon's birthday, author Steve McCardell is releasing a new Global Anthem that celebrates human brotherhood and sisterhood, supports global charities, and recognizes government gone global.
Rochester, MI (OPENPRESS) October 9, 2010 -- In what is no doubt the world's most famous Utopian tune, John Lennon once crooned, "Imagine there's no countries." Today, on Lennon's 70th birthday, a new Global Anthem (www.GlobalAnthem.org) is being released in celebration of human brotherhood and sisterhood and in recognition of government gone global.
Government gone global?
It's an event that doesn't occur until 2020 according to Steve McCardell's new novel, Darwood & Smitty and the Multi-World Agenda, a humorous adventure and political commentary.
"The novel will be released on 10/10/10 -- for free on my website over time, and in print on Amazon," said McCardell. "I was going to release the Global Anthem on the same day. But then I realized that Lennon's birthday was just one day before, and I couldn't help it. It was more appropriate for celebrating his vision."
In the novel, however, countries still exist, just as states exist alongside a federal government in the U.S.
The anthem as released by McCardell is really part of his larger "Global Anthem Project," which he hopes will raise funds for global charities with a focus on those providing clean drinking water to the world population.
"I want others to participate," said McCardell. "I've got a basic piano recording and lyrics on the site, and I'd like groups to produce their own versions if done for charity. I'm also hoping that professionals can come together and record a longer version that I've written. Then we can make a download of the recording available for free with a request for donations to charity."
For the time, McCardell is pointing people to Give a Drop (www.GiveADrop.com), where donations starting at just $2 can help address the global water problem.
"This launch date is really in honor of John Lennon," said McCardell. "But the music is a tribute to everyone who sees and acts on our common humanity."
