Sacramento Fence Company S&S Fence to Debut SportaFence at NCAA National Softball Tournament

Sacramento-based S&S Fence Company has invented a revolutionary outfield fence product that may change the way baseball and softball fields are used throughout the U.S.

Sacramento, CA (OPENPRESS) April 22, 2010 -- S&S Fence Company, Inc., one of Sacramento's leading fencing contractor companies, announced today that it will be nationally debuting a new sports invention called the "SportaFence", a portable outfield fence which can quickly and easily be rolled on and off an athletic field at a moment's notice. The outfield fence invention will be used on the fields of the ASA's national tournament to be covered by ESPN.

"The SportaFence was invented to help park districts, schools, colleges, and other athletic facilities get maximum use out of their sports fields by turning them into multi-purpose sports facilities," says Gary Siewert, inventor of the SportaFence and co-owner of S&S Fence. "You could play baseball or softball in the morning, for example, and then play soccer or football in the afternoon. There's really nothing like it on the market today, and we expect it to have great popularity," he says.

The patent-pending device, which is already in use at the Woodland Recreation and Park facility in Woodland, California, promises to be a cost-saving sporting product that will enable fiscally tight athletic programs to continue to offer sporting events during these recessionary times. When a traditional permanent outfield fence is erected, that commits the field to a single purpose. As a result, the field sits idle when baseball or softball isn't being played, wasting valuable real estate.

Additionally, the SportaFence can also easily be adjusted as to distance and configuration, meaning that a facility can easily adjust the distances for different levels of baseball or convert between a baseball field and a softball field. For example, a single field could be used as a little league field, a senior or high school level baseball field, and a softball field--all in one day if necessary.

"One of our motivations in designing the SportaFence was to enable Little Leagues, Babe Ruth Baseball, high schools and other baseball facilities to actually have an authentic field to play on for their age-bracket," explains Siewert. "Now, a single field can be used for all levels of play--from Little League on up through high school and college--and then be converted into a softball field for women's athletics. This way no one has to do without and we are quite proud of that."

The SportaFence, which can be seen at www.SportaFence.com, is a segmented device that consist of 5' X 10' panels that interlock when put into place, forming one complete unit virtually indistinguishable from a traditional outfield fence (4' X 10' and 7' X 10' panels are also available as options) . Each SportaFence panel unit has four wheels which raise and lower off of the ground for ease of movement or transit. A video of the SportaFence in action can be seen on the website.

S&S Fence is currently manufacturing two complete SpoeraFence systems for the Amateur Softball Association facility located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma softball facility will be host to the NCAA Women's Fastpitch "World Series" finals which will be televised by ESPN. It is in that venue that the SportaFence will make its national debut May 27 - June 2, 2010.
