Topless Model To Host First Ladies At G8 Summit

(OPENPRESS) July 10, 2009 -- Acting as hostess, Mara Carfanga, the one-time contestant of Miss Italy and topless model, will host the First Ladies of the world, at the forthcoming G8 Summit in Italy.

Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian Prime Minister continues his wayward ways of surprising the world, as he nominates Carfagna and another dazzling beauty, Maria Stella Gelmini, his education minister, to assist each other as hostesses at the summit. It is said Mr. Berlusconi appointed the two ladies as a prize for being 'staunch champions' through the latest allegations that the prime minister had an affair with high-class-call-girls last November. Mr Berlusconi has been called Europe's most sexist leader.

Marcella Ravenna, Angelica Mucchi Fiana, Chaira Volpatro and Anne Maas, four professors, say that Silvio Berlusconi's behavior is a menace to the dignity of every Italian woman. They have been forthright in their criticism of Mr. Burlusconi's choice of models actresses, starlets and as candidates of the prime minister's People of Freedom party. "As citizens of Italy, of Europe and of the world, we appeal to the first ladies of the countries involved in the G8 Summit. We ask them to desert the Italian meeting, to affirm strongly and unambiguously that the de-legitimization of women in one country offends women of all countries", say the four academics.

The G8 meeting has been moved from the up-market new conference facilities in Sardinia, to a police training barracks on the outskirts of L'Aquila, the area which was recently hit by an earthquake. Silvio Berlusconi instigated to move, so the dilemma of the 60,000 homeless from the earthquake would grab the attention of the world. A number of the homeless have been deeply upset by the media attention.

Three hundred and twenty million Euros have already been used on the new buildings in Sardinia, in preparation for the G8 summit. Now a supplementary 50 million Euros will be spent on preparation of the barracks.
