(OPENPRESS) August 20, 2011 -- Karen Dunn's KMD Productions, a full-service event planning, coordinating and implementation company, continues to grow and handle a wide range of clientele in various industries. Launched in January 2009 by Karen Dunn, KMD Productions offers a turnkey solution to manage events across the U.S., currently including a number of industry awards ceremonies, advocacy organizations and charity events.

Recently, KMD Productions organized and handled the planning and all the details associated with the 16th Annual TEC LA Open Charity Golf Tournament. With the biggest turnout in years, the tournament played host to many new sponsors and golfers at the newly renovated Malibu Golf Club in June. Presented by the TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the popular audio industry event was sponsored by GC Pro, Harman and Sterling Audio. Along with the usual contests and games, this year the winner of the Closest to the Pin contest had a chance at a Million-Dollar Shootout. The dynamic duo of Honorary Chair, Al Schmitt, and Master of Ceremonies, Ed Cherney, once again graced the stage and kept the festivities lively at the 19th Hole. Sponsors included Avid, Design FX Audio, the GRAMMY® Museum, Iron Mountain Film & Sound, Neumann, Ocean Way, PMI Audio, the Producers & Engineers Wing® of The Recording Academy®, Record Plant, Sennheiser, Shure, studioexpresso.com and the Mastering Palace.

Commenting on this year's tournament, Michael MacDonald, Executive VP of Marketing & Sales for the Harman Pro Group, stated, "I have known and worked with Karen over the past two decades, and any event that she has ever been associated with has been a huge success. Due to Karen's organization and supervision, the TEC LA Open continues to grow year after year, and as an avid golfer, I can personally tell you that this year's tournament was the best one yet. I look forward to next year's event and being able to contribute to such a worthwhile charity."

In related events, KMD Productions is working on the upcoming 27th Annual TEC Awards, which is jointly presented by the TEC Foundation and NAMM. The TEC Awards will be held at the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim on Friday, January 20, 2012. Dunn, who has been involved with the organization of the TEC Awards since its inception in 1985, continues to work with the participating sponsors to raise the profile of the TEC Awards.

KMD Productions has also been contracted to organize several other events, including the Third Annual MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors) Charity Golf Tournament, which is set for September 12, 2011, at the Malibu Country Club. This charity event will benefit the MPSE Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Fund. Through this fund, MPSE provides scholarships for the continuing education and advancement in the film and television profession. Current participants in the event read like a Who's-Who of Hollywood, with representatives from all the major audio post production houses participating, including Disney, Sony, Warner Bros and Fox, to name a few.

On October 6, 2011, KMD Productions is organizing the Fourth Annual Santa Monica Firefighters Charity Golf Tournament, also in Malibu. Money raised at this event goes to the Santa Monica Firefighters Relief Fund, run by the Santa Monica Firefighters Association, which consists of current and retired firefighters from the Santa Monica Fire Department. The relief fund helps with the health benefits of retired firefighters who have served the Santa Monica community, as well as assisting the families of Santa Monica firefighters who have been injured or killed in the line of duty.

"I am truly blessed to be able to work with the people I care for and to do what I do for such worthwhile events," stated Dunn, a 25-year audio industry veteran and former Executive Director of the TEC Awards. "I truly enjoy providing outsource services to my clients to help make their events a huge success."

KMD has a rich history as the organizer and coordinator of many high-profile events. Past work includes organizing the first-ever Recording Industry Charity Poker Tournament in conjunction with GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer David Reitzas (Hollywood, CA); organizing the first-ever Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) Charity Golf Tournament (Malibu); and serving San Francisco-based Music In Schools Today (MuST), as events manager for their organization.
