Why Sweet Holiday Romances are a Cowboy's Best Friend

(OPENPRESS) USA Today bestselling author Shanna Hatfield is kicking off a promotional campaign November 9 that will run through December 24 to raise funds and awareness for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund™.

During that time, Hatfield is committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from all her book sales to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund™. JCCF assists professional rodeo athletes who have sustained serious injuries that leave them unable to work for an extended period.

To get the donation ball rolling, nearly a hundred bloggers will host Hatfield on their websites that week during the 2nd annual Cowboys and Christmas Blog Tour.

The author will also release two new books to help generate additional sales during the campaign. Hatfield writes both historical and contemporary sweet romances. The Christmas Vow is the fourth book in the popular Hardman Holidays sweet Victorian series. Capturing Christmas is the third book in the sweet western Rodeo Romance series. A Facebook party with eight guest authors and a bevy of prizes will celebrate the release of the books Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific Time.

Hatfield became aware of the JCCF when she began researching details for the first book in her Rodeo Romance series, The Christmas Cowboy. The story features Tate Morgan, a saddle bronc rider set on earning a World Champion title, and Kenzie Beckett, a corporate trainer for a direct sales company. They meet by chance at an airport and the romance takes flight.

"In the story, Tate is injured at a rodeo. In an effort to get my facts straight for the book, I reached out to the Justin Sportsmedicine Team®. Through mobile medical centers, they provide care at more than 125 PRCA rodeos annually. Their response to my questions was extremely helpful and I was so impressed with them, I wanted to do a little something in return," Hatfield said. "The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund provides assistance to professional rodeo athletes who've been seriously injured and may be out of work for an extended period of time. Information about JCCF is included in each book in the Rodeo Romance series, but I wanted to do more than just mention the fund in my book."

After contacting the JCCF, Hatfield offered to donate to the fund in 2013. In 2014, she extended her donation period and held the first Cowboys and Christmas Blog Tour. Based on the response to the campaign last year, she continued the promotional program for 2015. "Now through December 24, 10 percent of the net proceeds from all my book sales will be donated directly to the JCCF. My goal is to write them a nice check at the end of December."

Of the Cowboys and Christmas Blog Tour, Hatfield said, "I've always been a huge rodeo fan. Growing up, it was the biggest event of the year in our little hometown in Eastern Oregon. I also adore the entire Christmas season. Being able to combine two things I love into something that benefits others is a dream come true."

Hatfield began writing western romances in February 2010 and her works first published in June 2011 when The Women of Tenacity series debuted. She followed those stories with the Grass Valley Cowboys series, the bestselling Pendleton Petticoats series, and the Baker City Brides series. The Christmas Vow and Capturing Christmas are her 33rd and 34th books, respectively.

"People who enjoy a western setting, relatable characters, and happy endings get into the stories I write," said Hatfield. "I want people to read my books and feel like they've made a new friend."

Hatfield blogs about her adventures in writing, publishing, and promotion at shannahatfield.com. A graduate from Southern Oregon University with a bachelor's degree in communications, Hatfield spent ten years as a newspaper journalist before switching gears into marketing. She left the corporate world behind in 2013 to pursue writing full-time.
