Authors pull together to help libraries damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

(OPENPRESS) Elkins Park, PA — Local author Karen Pokras Toz's books are on their way to New Jersey and New York City as part of the effort to restock libraries destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Toz's award-winning middle grade/children's chapter books, including Millicent Marie Is Not My Name, as well as books in her Nate Rocks series, have been shipped after being vetted by Indie Authors for Hurricane Sandy Libraries, a group established in November 2012 by author K. S. Brooks. There are over seventy authors from all over the world participating in the group and over 200 books have already been received by libraries in need in the tri-state area of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

"This is a great opportunity to connect libraries in need to authors willing to donate books. We work closely with the library systems to make certain they receive the genres they need," says group founder K. S. Brooks. "We're happy to have Karen Pokras Toz as part of our effort. Toz's generosity, which includes absorbing all related costs, is much appreciated."

Karen Pokras Toz is thrilled to be a part of the efforts. "When K.S. approached me, I was more than happy to help. We lost power for over a week and had minimal damage to our property here in Pennsylvania due to the hurricane, but others lost so much more."
