Upstate New York father and son honored for their athletic prowess and for contributing to the sports history of the community

Dodig, Jr., a partner in the law firm and his father, John Dodig, Sr. (decd.) have been inducted into the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame Club. The induction banquet took place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Saugerties, New York. Not surprisingly, Dodig Jr. attributes much of his admiration and success with sports and in life to his father. "He was a kind, caring, compassionate, gentle giant who would give a stranger the shirt off of his back. He instilled in me a work ethic and as a result, a passion for representing individuals seriously injured or the family members of those who have been killed as a result of the negligence of others."
Dodig believes in "standing up for the less fortunate in order to provide them with a voice and an opportunity to obtain justice." He said, "Speaking before a jury in a civil case on behalf of an individual or family who has lost everything because of an injury or death requires the same degree of passion, drive and determination required to win on the ball field. There are many parallels."
The Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame was initiated by the South Side Men's Club in 1963 as an endeavor to honor outstanding athletes of years past. An ongoing process for more than four decades with honorees dating back to the nineteenth century, the Saugerties Sports Hall of Fame Club is proud to continue the glowing tradition to give long overdue credit and honor to those who have helped to write Saugerties sports history.
