Seattle, WA (9-11-2013): Evan E. Sonntag, CPA, has been promoted to manager of Newman Dierst Hales, PLLC. Newman Dierst Hales is a full-service tax and accounting CPA firm specializing in helping owner-operated businesses, individuals, and healthcare organizations and healthcare professionals meet their tax, accounting and planning needs.
Sonntag has been with Newman Dierst Hales since 2009. During that time Sonntag has prepared complex and multistate business, individual, estate, trust, gift and nonprofit tax returns, reviewed tax returns, and mentored and trained staff. He works to attract new clients and serve existing ones, as well as helping to manage the direction of the firm, which is located at the bottom of Queen Anne Hill at 221 First Avenue West, Suite 415, in Seattle.
"I enjoy helping my clients meet their overall objectives to help them retire well, transfer wealth to future generations, and run successful businesses that can be passed on to future generations," Sonntag said. "I also enjoy helping clients understand the tax code."
Sonntag began his accounting career in 2004 and two years later was promoted to senior accountant for Myler & Szczypka, P.C., in Ann Arbor, Mich. He moved to Seattle in 2009 to work as a senior tax accountant at Benson & McLaughlin, P.S., before being hired by Newman Dierst Hales.
He is a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants (WSCPA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and graduated with a BA in accounting from Michigan State University and earned an MBA in accounting from Cleary University. He is an avid traveler and Michigan State basketball and football fan and a member of the Michigan State University Alumni Club.
