Aging Expert Dr. Eric B. Larson To Keynote Providence Marianwood's Spring Celebration Luncheon

Issaquah, WA (OPENPRESS) Eric B. Larson, M.D., a leading expert in the science of aging and a professor of medicine and health services at the University of Washington, will be the keynote speaker at the Providence Marianwood 19th Annual Spring Celebration Luncheon on Thursday, May 16, 2019.
Larson, executive director of Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute, is the co-author of "Enlightened Aging," a book that offers practical advice for growing old with resilience and foresight. His focus is helping people to stave off disability until very old age by building strong physical, mental and social reserves for a long, active life.
Former KING-TV anchor Dennis Bounds will emcee the event.
The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Golf Club at Newcastle, 15500 Six Penny Ln, Newcastle, Wash. Proceeds benefit programs and services that support residents, patients and families of the Issaquah skilled nursing home.
Providence Marianwood is the only non-profit rehabilitation and long-term healthcare provider in the Issaquah/Sammamish area. On any given day, about 100 individuals call Providence Marianwood home; More than 800 people are cared for every year. With 57 transitional care beds and 60 long-term care beds, Providence Marianwood provides round-the-clock skilled nursing care to those in need regardless of their ability to pay. As a non-profit healthcare provider, Providence Marianwood belongs to the communities it serves. Hundreds of individuals, corporations and foundations nurture and support the organization each year with their charitable contributions.
The Providence Marianwood Foundation raises funds to support the organization, which provides approximately $3 million in uncompensated care every year for the majority of its residents who have outlived their financial resources. Regardless of their ability to pay, residents and patients receive the same level of compassionate care and are promised that they will have a loving, caring home, no matter how long they live. Overseen by a board of directors of Eastside residents and professionals, Providence Marianwood depends on the Spring Celebration Luncheon as its largest fundraising event of the year.
