Matt Jones conquered cancer — 3 times — and he will conquer the City to Surf for Activ marathon in Perth, Australia in less than a month. It will be Matt's 5th marathon since 2006.
Austin-San Marcos, TX (OPENPRESS) After fighting for his life through chemotherapy treatments and struggling emotionally and physically in and out of hospitals for years, Matt Jones conquered cancer — 3 times — and he will conquer the City to Surf for Activ marathon in Perth, Australia in less than a month. It will be Matt's 5th marathon since 2006.
Matt Jones- http://www.matthewdjones.com - is a recognized business professional, a published author and a resident of Austin, Texas, but he almost died when he slipped into an unconscious state with brain cancer after being diagnosed with cancer in 2002. He grew up in Emporia, Kansas and was a senior in college when he received the devastating diagnosis of cancer. The cancer spread to his brain and his doctors did not think he would live. Matt's brain was battered by the cancer, he lost the ability to walk and he teetered on the edge of death. Against all odds, Matt recovered and went through a successful bone marrow transplant. He had to learn how to walk again and regain his former life. With the help of his family and friends he was able to make a remarkable recovery.
When Matt was finally cancer free he decided he wanted to complete a big challenge to prove to himself that his body and mind were completely healed and he was in better shape than ever. He completed the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in 2006, raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) - http://www.lls.org. Once he finished that marathon he decided to compete in a marathon on every continent and continue raising awareness for LLS. Matt has ran marathons in Rome, Tokyo and Peru. Along the way he has published 5 books that share strategies for success in life and business, he entered school to earn his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership, created the Relational, Ethical, Authentic and Lasting (R.E.A.L.) Leadership Academy to develop better business leaders and became a recognized, life-changing, motivational speaker.
