Shawna R. Morris, MPA, FACHE, has joined Phoenix House as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of its California operations. She will oversee all programs and services in the state.
(OPENPRESS) Phoenix House is proud to announce that Shawna R. Morris, MPA, FACHE, has joined the organization as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the California operations. She will oversee all programs and services in the state, including the operations of the four regional non-profit corporations: Phoenix Houses of Los Angeles, Phoenix House Orange County, and Phoenix House San Diego.
Ms. Morris is a creative, strategic, visionary, energetic and result-oriented healthcare executive with 26 years of experience in a variety of healthcare and behavioral health organizations. Her strengths include strategic planning, operational excellence, developing services and increasing business revenue, talent management and managing change. Her focus on servant leadership results in providing support to patients, staff and community partners, resulting in improvements in the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care.
She comes to Phoenix House with impressive experience and credentials. As Vice-President for Mental Health Services at Burrell Behavioral Health in Missouri (2015-16), she expanded wraparound services for adults, enhanced addiction treatment services and was instrumental in the expansion of eating disorder services, and collaborations with primary care providers. In 1997-2014, she held a variety of positions at the Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas, ranging from the Director of Marketing and Business Development to Chief Operating Officer. In her role as C.O.O., Ms. Morris was accountable for creating and executing the Clinic's strategic plan and building successful internal and external business relationships. She earlier served in high-level management positions at ValueMark Healthcare Systems, Inc. and Human Affairs International, Inc.
Ms. Morris is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (since 2013). She graduated from the University of Kansas with the Master of Public Administration in 2002 and from Grace College with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Psychology.
Phoenix House is the nation's leading nonprofit provider of substance abuse treatment and prevention services, helping more than 7,000 men, women and teens each day overcome addiction and sustain recovery. As the Mission Statement confirms, "we are passionate about healing individuals, families and communities challenged by substance use disorder and related mental health conditions." Phoenix House has nearly 150 programs in eleven states: California, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia and the Metro DC area.
