New York Times bestselling author, Kat Martin, has announced the release of her latest book, "Against the Wind."

(OPENPRESS) December 29, 2010 -- New York Times bestselling author, Kat Martin, has announced the release of her latest book, "Against the Wind." The book is the first in her new trilogy, The Raines of Wind Canyon, that went on sale Dec. 27, 2010.

"Now that I've started writing trilogies, I've found them both challenging and rewarding," said Martin. "When the idea came to me for "Against the Wind," I knew immediately I wanted to write more than just Jackson's story. I also wanted to write a book for his brothers, Gabe and Devlin."

Her latest creation was inspired by the song "How Do You Like Me Now?" by country music star, Toby Keith. The book examines the convoluted history between Jackson Raines and Sarah Allen, the girl who humiliated him in high school.

Born on the wrong side of the tracks, Jackson is now a wealthy rancher in Wind Canyon, Wyoming with a cabin to rent. Sarah is returning to Wind Canyon from California after the murder of her abusive husband. She arrives with her young daughter, Holly, a pocket full of debts and little more. A blackmailer, her dead husband saved his secrets on a flash drive that's missing, making Sarah and Holly the targets of ruthless men who will do anything to retrieve it.

Sarah flees to the cabin she rented in Wind Canyon, only to find Jackson Raines is the owner. Jackson's old attraction flares back to life, but Sarah is resistant to beginning a relationship him. She has secrets she's unwilling to reveal, fearful that they might tear the budding relationship apart.

The book is a fast-paced page-turner that readers will be reluctant to put down. A rugged hero and strong-willed heroine combine for a romantic story that's passionate, tense and full of suspense. Martin accurately captures the spirit of the West and the people who live there.

The bestselling author of over 40 historical, contemporary and romantic suspense novels, Martin began writing in 1985. She majored in anthropology and history at the University of California at Santa Barbara, CA and became a real estate agent. Encouraged by her author husband, Larry Jay Martin, she began writing and placed her characters in settings she found personally interesting. She's the author of 11 trilogies, ranging from the historical and western to the paranormal. She also has three two-book series to her credit and numerous stand-alone novels.

Fans can follow Martin on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Squidoo and LinkedIn. They can also register to join her mailing list.
