Emergency food storage supplies continue to be in strong demand, according to this national supplier. Demand is expected to continue throughout the new year.
(OPENPRESS) Dec. 29, 2008 - Salt Lake City, Utah - Demand for emergency food storage supplies has been strong throughout 2008, and that demand is expected to be higher in the new year, according to this national supplier.
"We just had our biggest year ever, and there is no indication that the demand for emergency food storage will do anything other than grow," said Jeff Augason, company spokesman for Blue Chip Group, Inc.
Augason said his company has grown from a small family-owned operation just a few years ago to over 50 employees with a large warehouse and packaging plant. He expects the company will continue to hire in the new year, in spite of the recession.
Blue Chip Group, Inc. opened an outlet store at their packaging plant located at 432 West 3440 South in Salt Lake, and had to stay open for extended hours to meet the growing demand. They also sell nation-wide through a web site at http://www.FoodStorageIdeas.com and through hundreds of retail distributors.
"The best advice on emergency food storage is to store what you eat, and eat what you store. If an emergency or disaster strikes, you do not want to be eating foods that are strange to you. There will be enough stress during a disaster as it is, so why add to that by eating foods you are not used to," said Augason.
The Red Cross, FEMA and other government and private agencies have been encouraging individuals and families to prepare for disasters, terrorist attacks, and other emergencies. Blue Chip Group, Inc. has a wide range of foods that are packaged in bulk for economy and easy storage designed.
The company began with the development of Morning Moos over 30 years ago. Blue Chip Group founder Phil Augason was able to develop a method to create a good tasting powdered milk that children actually like. The distinctive number 10 cans with a black and white cow on the label are on prominent display inside many grocery stores throughout Utah.
The company also offers free newsletter tips on food storage, as well as mail order purchases through their web site at http://www.FoodStorageIdeas.com
