Guitar Comic Evan Wecksell returns to the road during April for eight college shows across six states as he leaves wife and child behind.

Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (OPENPRESS) Two years ago Comedian Evan Wecksell dropped his guitar and frequent flyer status to be around his first child. While the parenting experience has yielded some new material, Evan is returning to the road and what he knows best: comedy shows on college campuses.

While Wecksell has been performing isolated dates over the past couple of years, this spring affords him the opportunity to make a positive impact on college campuses, especially during Greek Weeks.

"Greek Week is a time to bring fun and philanthropy together at Ferris State," says Amber Balmer, Assistant Director of the Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services, who will be hosting Evan on April 10. "We have a great line up this year, and [Evan] is sure to bring some comic relief to our Greeks and provide some motivation!"

The motivation comes from Evan's "It's Great to Be Greek" mini-lecture, a talk that offers undergraduates ways to guarantee their Greek system on campus as well as offer the advantages to being Greek during and after college.

"I wouldn't have a career if it wasn't for being Greek and bugging my first Theta Chi chapter nine years ago," recalls Evan. "My brothers welcomed me into their house and I just kept going to see who else would offer me a stage and free food."

While the Greek talk will be a common component of most of his Greek shows, Evan's comedy will come in many forms. To kick off the tour, he will be hosting a Greek Variety Show at Western Illinois University on April 9. A couple of weeks later, Evan will host a Greek game show at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

"The theme of the week will be 'Strengthening Fraternity and Sorority Life throughout the decades,'" notes JWU Greek Week Chair Cara Cutaia. "We think Evan Wecksell will be the perfect fit."

Besides the Greek shows, Wecksell will have a unique debut at Penn State University.

"Comedy Month is one of our favorite times to program," says Noontime Coordinator Autumn Strausbaugh. "We can't wait to finish it out with Evan Wecksell for a Noontime Show AND Late Night Show!"

The 'day-night doubleheader' will be Evan's first.
