(OPENPRESS) October 23, 2010 -- Starting at 10am October 2, 2010 Kids Rocker/Fitness Guru/Official President's Challenge Program Advocate Miss Amy introduced an All-Star line-up at Mercer County Waterfront Park baseball stadium in Trenton, NJ, at the largest publicly held Let's Move Meet-up event in the country. The opening ceremony included an achievement recognition of 100+ Presidential Active Lifestyle Awards, and the event itself, called Kidstock2010, was a Health & Wellness expo that combined fun, fitness activities and entertainment for children with networking and education for parents to combat the epidemic of childhood obesity. This showcase was a Mercer County NJ "Let's Move Kick-Off" answering the Call-To-Action of First Lady Michelle Obama.
Included in the Opening PALA Ceremony line-up were: US Olympic Athlete and National Grand Champion Featherweight boxer Sacred Downing, former NFL Pro Wide Receiver with the Cincinnati Bengals Lonnie Allgood, former Cosmo Pro-Soccer Player Bobby Smith, International Grand Champion & World Champion Martial Artist Sifu Louis Diaz, Winner of this season's Oxygen Network Reality Television Show "Dance Your A** Off" LaToya James, former Recreational Director for New York City Mitchell Smith who now promotes fitness/character as "Aerobo Cop", and NJ political leaders, including Representative Rush Holt who gave a rousing address about community involvement to "Eat Healthy" and "Get Active", two primary goals of the Let's Move initiative.
On September 14, 2010 the "Million Presidential Active Lifestyle Award Challenge" was issued by Secretary Sebelius, the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition and Let's Move! Meanwhile, Miss Amy was named PC-All American for September 2010 for her efforts as a President's Challenge Advocate. At the October 2 Opening PALA Ceremony Miss Amy recognized 131 PALA achievers, including children and instructors of Southern Shaolin Academy, Schafer Gymnastics, the Ewing High School Marching Band, the Ewing High School Women's Field Hockey Team, as well as Trenton Mayor Tony Mack, making Mack the first sitting mayor to earn his PALA under the Million Challenge. All recipients started their 6-week PALA commitment earlier in the summer under the guidance of Miss Amy.
Immediately following the awards ceremony the onstage lineup of athletes and political figures, along with the enthusiastic crowd in the stadium, joined Miss Amy as she lead them in her "Let's Move" Fitness Rock & Roll interactive song, which she and her Big Kids Band premiered at the White House 2010 Egg Roll event earlier this year. This song and other music from Miss Amy's Fitness Rock & Roll program will be on a CD of that name to be officially released in a few weeks.
