John Hutson named President of the Washington State chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). NACVA focuses on business valuation, economic damage measurement, and fraud detection and deterrence.

Seattle, WA (OPENPRESS) November 12, 2009 -- Hutson Resource Group, a forensic accounting firm, has announced that John Hutson, Director of Forensic Accounting, has been named President of the Washington state chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). Washington state NACVA members include accounting, finance, valuation, and litigation support professionals who meet for the purpose of ongoing professional development in the fields of business valuation, economic damage measurement, and fraud detection and deterrence.

Intense financial pressures on employees during the economic crisis have led to an increase of fraud, according to a survey of fraud experts conducted by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). The problem is so large and wide-spread, ACFE created a week-long event to draw attention to the crisis, International Fraud Awareness Week. The week-long campaign encourages business leaders and employees to proactively take steps to minimize the impact of fraud.

For small businesses owners, the betrayal of employee theft by key employees can be emotionally as well as financially damaging. John Hutson encourages business owners to view key employees with a fair but critical eye. "Reconsider the people you trust to conduct your business on a daily basis. Ask yourself, does this person have too much unchecked responsibility?" Hutson says that small businesses suffer the largest median losses per perpetrator, in excess of $260,000 on average.
