Chicago, IL (OPENPRESS) August 25, 2009 -- Bacon lovers rejoice. On September 2nd, Chef Stephanie Izard will throw on her apron again for the second Wandering Goat dinner, part of a traveling dinner series leading up to the opening of her new restaurant, The Drunken Goat, this winter. This dinner will give a shout out to all bacon enthusiasts (herself included) with a menu centered around all-things porcine, including dessert.
"After having so much fun at the last dinner, I am really looking forward to meeting another group of new people and sharing some of the new creations I have been working on. At my restaurant, the Drunken Goat, we will serve our own cured meats (including bacon), so lately we have tried out a bunch of different cures and smoking methods. I'm excited to share my findings!" says Stephanie.
For Chicagoans who missed out on Stephanie inaugural Wandering Goat dinner in July, it was a casual backyard BBQ featuring the famous meats of Allen Brother's, the critically acclaimed Three Floyds beer, and of course, her signature fare. Every month until November, Stephanie plans to host casual, family style dinners in different secret locations as she cooks and parties with the people of Chicago.
The September dinner will take place in a Chicago-area warehouse. While listening to the casual sounds of local DJ Arby Green, guests will enjoy the taste of Stephanie's favorite beer from Three Floyds, and Stephanie plans to celebrate the swine with specialties like Bacon Crisped Oysters, Bacon and Smoked Trout Salad with Heirloom Tomatoes, Aji-Braised Pork Belly, and finish with a selection of different Bacon Gelato from Black Dog Gelato.
Those interested in joining Stephanie at the September 2nd dinner should follow Stephanie on Twitter (@stephanieizard) where she will announce that the tickets are available, and can be purchased at www.stephanieizard.com. The price for this dinner is $65 which includes all food and drink, and the secret location will be unveiled to ticket owners a few days before the dinner by email.
The Wandering Goat Dinner Series leads up to the opening of Stephanie's long-awaited new restaurant, The Drunken Goat, which will open in Chicago in January 2010. The menu will incorporate innovative flavor combinations influenced by Spanish and Italian cuisine, and include locally-sourced, seasonal products. Busy as ever, Stephanie is also currently working on a cookbook, which will be published by Chronicle Books in the fall of 2011. Stephanie films frequent episodes of her video podcast, "The Tasty Life," and serves on the Executive Chef Board of the non-profit organization Common Threads. You can find more info on Stephanie, and purchase tickets for the "Wandering Goat Dinner Series" at her newly re-launched website: www.stephanieizard.com.
