Legal Cloud Launches Service with Beta Customers

Submitted by: Legal Cloud

2009-05-08 00:02:04

Sausalito, CA (OPENPRESS) May 8, 2009 -- Legal Cloud today announced that several top, international law firms had signed up as early testers of its virtual data center services for the legal market. The Legal Cloud is operating a 'closed beta' with select law firms interested in reducing the costs of their existing collocation facilities, finding a way to implement a business continuity program without duplicating private infrastructure or simply planning for their future primary and secondary infrastructure facilities.

"We have had extensive consultations with a limited group of legal CIO's." said Mark Hadfield, CEO of the Legal Cloud. "We are very pleased with the response we have had with this limited outreach, and this speaks to a definite need in the market for a Cloud data center designed to meet the needs of the legal industry worldwide. Clients are telling us they want to get out of the data center business and a managed virtual service, specific to legal is appealing to them." he added.

Participants in the Legal Cloud beta program to date include Fenwick & West LLP, Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP, and other firms.

"We see cloud computing as a powerful force in the industry, with compelling value." commented Matt Kesner, CTO of Fenwick & West LLP. " It's good to see a legal-specific cloud vendor with the launch of Legal Cloud. We will be testing the service as we continue to evolve our business continuity facilities," he added.

The Legal Cloud will allocate virtual servers for each beta participant to test, as well as replicating core systems and applications from each firm's existing primary facilities for business continuity testing. Through testing the service, potential clients will be evaluating best options around connectivity, WAN acceleration and replication technologies.

"We have been searching for a business continuity solution which does not require excessive amounts of duplicate infrastructure" commented David Sheetz, Director of Technology Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP, "The Legal Cloud approached us, and we have been impressed with the value of their service. We will be testing it over the next few months within our San Francisco office." He added.
