Provo, UT (OPENPRESS) March 12, 2008 -- Twenty percent of Americans are not planning to vote in this year's upcoming presidential election ─ survey results demonstrate that their voting counterparts may be concerned about them.
Qualtrics Survey Software, a leader in the enterprise feedback management industry recently surveyed Americans from all 50 states to discover their perceptions about American voting behavior and preferences.
Seventy-eight percent of Americans who responded to the Qualtrics survey feel that not enough Americans are exercising their right to vote. Thirteen percent of respondents indicated that American voters exercised sufficient 'voter responsibility' and nine percent answered 'I don't know.'
"This upcoming White House election is attracting the attention of just about everyone these days," says Stuart Orgill, Qualtrics Director. "We wanted to discover ─ through this survey ─ how many registered voters were actually planning to cast their votes, and perhaps more importantly, whether Americans felt like enough of their own were committed to doing so."
To discover the level of voter involvement in this election, Qualtrics questioned respondents about the ways in which they accessed or received political information. The majority of respondents ─ 59 percent ─ indicated that their primary news source was online, while many of those surveyed relied on information from traditional local and national newspapers.
"There are many online companies ─ such as YouTube.com and Facebook.com ─ who are trying to encourage the online audience to get to the polls and vote," says Orgill. "I guess only time will tell if the percentage of Americans who plan to vote, actually do."
