(OPENPRESS) July 27, 2012 -- JAM Paper & Envelope hopes to open their Southampton, New York pop up store within a week.
Two months ago, JAM Paper lost its month-to-month lease on the upper east side after two years. Instead of giving up, JAM followed their upper east side clients to the Hamptons. "City retail is dead during the summer" said owner Andrew Jacobs, who currently operates 2 permanent NYC locations. "We wanted to be where are customers were, and many of our customers are in the Hamptons.
After calling every available store with a for rent sign in the window Memorial Day weekend, Jacobs made a fast deal for 68 Jobs Lane. "We hope to open within a week," said Jacobs. "We only have until Labor Day to catch the crowds! And then, its back to the city to find another Upper East Side store for the holiday season!"
As of now, JAM only has 1 employee hired for the Hamptons pop up, but Jacobs is not worried. "If anyone knows someone looking to work, tell them to stop by!" And if he doesn't find someone, Jacobs said he'll commute from his home in New York City and help in the store if necessary. "There are worst things I can be doing during the summer than hanging out in Southampton!"
