THE STOWAWAYS 'TIME FOR CHANGE' Single released on 2nd July

Submitted by: THE PLAYGROUND

2012-06-19 12:01:13

(OPENPRESS) June 20, 2012 -- The Stowaways release 'Time For Change', their latest grand Indie cut on 2nd July. Big and theatrical, but pop where it matters they take influences from Friendly Fires, Phil Collins, The Police and Bombay Bicycle Club.

It was produced by Adam Looker (Kaiser Chiefs, Crystal Fighters), and follows a tidy sum of success for their previous EP's, which have seen them gain continued and heavy support from the likes of Absolute Radio, BBC 6Music, FHM and Amazing Radio.

Their outstanding live shows have led to them holding a residency at Brick Lane's 'Cafe 1001', supporting New Young Pony Club at Prague's prestigious 'Meet Factory' and headlining the Roundhouse's emerging artist industry showcase.
Further Notes:

The Stowaways are a London based indie rock band, that bring in elements of electronic music with epic guitars, but always abide foremost by melody. They say they are Justice in reverb pedals and Friendly Fires in guitars, and their well rounded sound comes from an eclectic background for their age. Here's what they say about who has shaped their playing and songwriting:

Rudi // Guitar - "I have taken a lot of influence from The Police, especially on the songwriting side of things. Purely from a guitar side of things, i have looked at many blues players (Dick Dale, Stevie Ray Vaughan) and love to chase the perfect 'tone'."

Jamie // Vocals/ Guitar - "I grew up singing to pretty much anything I heard on the radio, listening to singers like Jagger, Jackson and Sting, I was always fascinated by their emotion and melody. Most of my influences since, from more recent artists, in both lyrics and tone include Ed Macfarlane, Adam Levine, Orlando Weeks & Caleb Followill."

Steve // Drums - "Love the huge sound of John Bonham, bring that together with some groove orientated drummers, from Aaron Spears, Dennis Chambers to Stewart Copeland and Johnny Rabb"

Ash - "Melodic basslines... Always trying to complement the song as well as getting the right balance of groove and melody and flowing to each section. The reggae sound has been important in the more recent songs, taking influence from bands such as The Maytals, Wailing Souls, Peer Tosh and Musical Youth."

"Strong, authoritative vocals with riffs that prick up your ears and grab your attention. The lads deserve all the attention they can get." - Vicki Blight (Absolute Radio)

"Crisp tight arrangements and fresh, vigorous musicianship, topped off by lovely impassioned vocals. An emerging London band to watch with interest in 2012." - Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music)

"The Stowaways deal in top-drawer melodies and all-round giddy charm. 'Monroe' is a surefire hit-in-waiting, illustrating just how effective the band have been in creating a new, refreshing brand of indiepop."
- Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio)

"The Stowaways are a lively, cool indie outfit who we're chuffed to work with on FHM.com. We believe they're set for a very promising future…" - Adam Gold (FHM)
