Author Anna Kavanaugh has signed a three-book deal to pen a trilogy series that will expand her original novel, "The Cord of Callows," adding both a prequel and sequel to the story.
(OPENPRESS) September 12, 2011 -- The story rights for all three segments of the series are currently under option for production held by a creative development team and are geared to begin release in 2012 in a gradual unveiling. The sequence of series titles will be as follows:
(Prequel) "The Cord of Callows: Provenance"
(Next in series and a revised version of the original novel) "The Cord of Callows: Creed"
(Sequel) "The Cord of Callows: Covenant"
For creative purposes and audience response to the expansion of story, the expected release order of the series will not be sequential. The first installment slated for release will be "Creed," to be followed by the prequel "Provenance," and capped with the sequel, "Covenant."
The story will span several generations. In line with the original novel, the trilogy will delve further into the ethical and spiritual questions that arise from the altering of our food supply by way of the genetic engineering and manipulation practices in use today, often undisclosed to the consumer. Passionate in her study and personal opposition of these methods, Ms. Kavanaugh will use a science fiction/fantasy blend to focus the story on what physical and spiritual ramifications to the continuance and further development of these practices may be ahead. Primarily, the series seeks to examine free will and ask these questions while weighing the cost through several paradoxical ironies and the lens of a higher perspective.
Ms. Kavanaugh has authored nine of her own novels, six of which released under Kavanaugh and another three credited to previous pen names. Additionally, she has ghostwritten several novels for, or in conjunction with, other authors. She unexpectedly announced her retirement in 2008, shocking the dedicated fan base known as Kav Clubbers, she accumulated through her unique signature style and wide body of work. She has now officially announced her formal return to her career as a novelist.
A reputation for being media shy and recluse, Ms. Kavanaugh lives in the Pacific Northwest where she enjoys a life in the outdoor surroundings of the acclaimed beauty found throughout the region. She has recently returned to the US from Ireland and Spain, and will spend the next several months deep in research and writing.
"The Cord of Callows: Creed" will be available for order on or before October 1, 2011. No further details are available at this time.
