South Windsor, CT (OPENPRESS) August 25, 2011 -- Retail giant, Big J Mart Stores immediately pulled Xbox 360 from their website Monday afternoon after a large price glitch and product description error. The error effected hundreds of potential customers and corporate business account holders.
Just 24 hours after the retail giant listed the popular Xbox 360 gaming systems, the product was immediately pulled from their internet catalog, leaving customers looking for answers.
Big J Mart decided to sell the Xbox 360 game system w/ Kinect after a local wholesaler offered the units to Big J Mart for just under $220 a piece. Big J Mart jumped on the offer, listing the item on the web, making it accessible to millions of global customers within seconds. It only took a matter of minutes for the internet retail giant to start seeing record traffic to their site.
The description from Big J Mart read, "Xbox 360 Game Console With Kinect - $245 - One Day Only." This same exact system sells in Walmart Stores for $299.99. With the low price on this bundle deal, Big J Mart immediately started to see results from other businesses, some customers trying to purchase upwards of 80 units at a time.
But was Big J Mart really the best deal on the internet? After integrated IP logging software started seeing retail trends just minutes after posting the item for sale, Big J Mart management questioned the price and credibility of the item offered by the wholesaler. Owner, Justin Calabrese was personally notified by the automatic integrated software program via cell phone text.
After a complete investigation into the item, Justin Calabrese immediately ordered the removal of the product from the internet catalog.
The investigation showed that the item being offered online at BigJMart.com did not include the kinect adapter. After Big J Mart and management notified the wholesaler of the misleading description, the wholesaler agreed a mistake had been made and was willing to also remove the item from their wholesale list.
The Xbox system offered online at BigJMart.com sells for $199.99 in other local retail stores, making Big J Mart's price about $45 more than other competing stores. After you add on shipping, Big J Mart really was at the loosing end of the competition.
"I will ensure my valued customers that such an incident will never occur again online. We take pride in the amount of training our staff and website technicians have, and will not let this one incident slow the global growth of our company. We are working with Microsoft and all possible vendors to deliver the Xbox products our customers value each day," stated Justin Calabrese.
At this time it is unclear when the next Xbox will sold online at BigJMart.com. If you purchased an Xbox 360 from BigJMart.com during the past week, please contact customer service for an immediate refund on your purchase.
