Summerdale Police Department AL Adopts New in-Car Video and GPS Tracking System

Submitted by: CopTrax

2011-08-05 00:07:34

Dallas, TX (OPENPRESS) August 5, 2011 -- Video Labs and technology partner IncaX today formally announced the release of CopTrax for Microsoft Azure.

The new version of CopTrax can be quickly deployed to Microsoft's Azure cloud computing platform allowing police departments adopting the system to get up and running within a few hours. Earlier this week Summerdale PD AL became the first department to opt for CopTrax deployed to Azure.

"CopTrax is the very best camera system I've witnessed or utilized in my last 31 years in Law Enforcement. This system is so far advanced that we will never have to purchase another system for my agency ever again. It has every feature you can imagine and the biggest plus to this system is that it lets me, as Chief of Police, and all the other officers and dispatchers see what's going on from the interior of my officer's car via "Live" streaming video. This system will undoubtedly dominate the law enforcement in-car camera market in the future and rightfully so. I would recommend this system to every agency in the world." said Eddie Ingram, Chief of Police Summerdale, Alabama.

The CopTrax system turns a standard Windows laptop into a high resolution in-car video system with dual video / audio channels for front and rear cameras, pre-event recording, GPS tracking, hardware triggers for automatic video recording plus the ability to stream both live location and video streams back to the department.

Robert Watson, VP of Sales and Marketing at CopTrax said, "Working closely with the Summerdale Police Department and Chief Ingram during their trial of the CopTrax system has given us a unique opportunity to view exactly how the system was being used in real world scenarios. Feedback from the officers at Summerdale allowed us to provide additional features that will further enhance officer safety."

During the testing phase Summerdale PD allowed the CopTrax team access to monitor how the system was performing and capture videos showing the system in action. Approved video footage can be viewed on the CopTrax YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYLNUW3Xs10

Watson also said "We are extremely excited at the vision of Chief Ingram to deploy his agencies video evidence to Microsoft's Azure cloud computing platform. By using this revolutionary technology it provides Summerdale PD with the ability to share the system with surrounding agencies. Microsoft's Azure Platform provides smaller departments with IT infrastructure as advanced as the largest most tech-driven agencies in the country. It has been a great pleasure getting to know the men and women of the Summerdale Police Dept. and officers from neighboring agencies."
