Olympic speed skater, Rebekah Bradford-Plath, trains with iLoveKickboxing in her off season to stay in shape.
Salt Lake City-Ogden, UT (OPENPRESS) Olympic speed skater, Rebekah Bradford-Plath, was looking for a new kind of workout to help keep her fit in the off season while preparing for the 2014 winter games in Sochi, Russia and she definitely found it.
"Thank you Mike and all the instructors at iLoveKickboxing.com for keeping me in top condition during my off season training! I needed something different, fun and challenging and found everything I was looking for at this gym. I love starting off the Olympic season being confident and on the right foot."
Rebekah Bradford has competed in international speedskating events since 2002 when she skated at the World Junior Speedskating Championships. Since that time, she has competed on five World Cup teams. Bradford also competed at the 1998 U.S. Olympic Team Trials when she was only 13 years old.
During the 2008-09 season, Bradford was presented with the 2009 Joey Carlson Spirit Award during the Midway Speedskating Club's awards banquet and she recently earned the title of 2010 U.S. Sprint Champion at the U.S. Speedskating Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2011 she was the U. S. Sprint Champion.
Bradford completed a degree in psychology and exercise sports science at the University of Utah, with a minor in nutrition, in 2012.
She has been on the mend from back to back injuries/illness with a double knee surgery in 2011 and a double pulmonary embolism in 2012. Six months after her ER visit she set three Master World Records in her age group and placed first and second several times in the American Cup circuit.
Teresa Lechtenberg, owner of iLoveKickboxingSandy.com facility, was quoted as saying, "We are very honored that we can be part of Rebekah's training. She works really hard in class and is an inspiration to everyone around her. We wish her the very best in her quest to win gold in Sochi and my family, our staff, and all of our clients will be cheering her on every step of the way."
Rebekah currently lives in the Sandy area with her husband and is working hard to achieve her Olympic dream. Here are just some of Rebekah's skating highlights.
