Students Against Violence Everywhere Urges Teens To Save Lives By Thinking Twice Before Texting While Driving
Kiln, MS (OPENPRESS) Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) (http://www.nationalsave.org), a national nonprofit organization striving to decrease violence in our schools and communities, has announced that the Hancock High School SAVE chapter recently hosted a "Thumbs UP to X the TXT" rally at the school to mark May's National Teen Safe Driving Month. The May 13 event, sponsored by Allstate agent Brenan Compretta, encouraged local students to think twice and save lives by avoiding texting and driving.
The event, made possible with a grant from the Southern Allstate Foundation Teen Safe Driving initiative, was part of Allstate's "Thumbs UP to X the TXT" national campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of texting and driving. At the assembly, students added their thumbprints to a banner as a symbol of their pledge not to text and drive.
QUOTES:
"Car crashes are the number one killer of teens nationwide, and many of those accidents are a result of texting while driving," said Compretta. "Allstate partnered with SAVE because we want to empower teens with the necessary means to eliminate the devastating effects of distracted driving."
