GyanOne provides end-to-end services across the foreign admissions cycle, from test preparation to final admission. We help students and applicants at all three levels.

Indianapolis, IN (OPENPRESS) Top professionals from India and Asia today constitute the largest segment of applicants to top global MBA programs, and harbor hopes of one day graduating from top-tier schools such as MIT, Stanford, INSEAD, London Business School, HKUST, and ISB. The path to top MBA admissions, though, remains far from smooth for those wishing to tread it alone.

To begin with, most applicants don't know where to start. They are unsure of how and whether to take the GMAT, how to select the right schools for their profile, and how to create strong applications that will win favor with the admissions committees of top schools. GyanOne Educational Services, a firm of top B-school alumni, interviewed the admissions officers of top B-schools in different regions to get their views on what differentiates their MBA programs, key points that applicants should keep in mind while applying, and post-program opportunities for students. As a firm of top B-school alumni dedicated to helping applicants achieve their highest potential at MBA applications, GyanOne brings deep perspectives on top schools to help students know more about these programs and make an informed choice. GyanOne's MBA application service, AppOne™, and interview preparation service, IntOne™,are geared to help applicants excel at MBA applications and interviews respectively to top schools around the world. GyanOne has helped Indian professionals to gain admits to top schools across Asia (ISB, NUS, Nanyang, SMU, HKUST), Europe (INSEAD, LBS, Said, Judge, HEC, IE, IESE, IMD), Canada (Ivey, Rotman, Schulich, McGill, Queens), and the USA (all schools in the US top 50).

GyanOne interviewed admissions teams from HKUST (Hong Kong), Singapore Management University (Singapore), IE Business School (Spain), IESE Business School (Spain), Richard Ivey School of Business (Canada), and the McDonough School of Business (USA) in April-May 2013. These interviews touched upon different aspects of the MBA programs at these top schools, but highlighted some common themes too.

Different schools follow different teaching methodologies, but the case method of instruction at IESE and Richard Ivey School of Business really stands out. Itziar de Ros, MBA Admissions Director at IESE, feels that the case method teaches students new ways to approach real-world business issues. Greg Yantz, Director of MBA Admissions and Recruiting at Ivey, feels that using cases allows students "a hands-on, decisions-based approach to problem solving."

Sherring Ng, Head of Marketing and Admissions at HKUST, offers some other perspectives beyond academics on how HKUST adds value to its students; she mentions in particular The Professional Week, a credit bearing program to inculcate stronger soft-skills in students. Similarly, Shari Hubert, Associate Dean of MBA Admissions at Georgetown's McDonough School, mentions that McDonough goes above and beyond other MBA programs by ensuring that students understand the global economy and are well-versed in team management and communication skills. She also mentions that the McDonough MBA focused on industry-specific skills in addition to horizontal business skills (Marketing, Finance, and Operations).

Business schools also emphasize the importance of students researching their career goals well, and networking closely with potential recruiters. According to Eliana El Hage, Associate Director, IE Business School, Spain, getting in touch with recruiters early is particularly important at IE for international students, while Sherring Ng at HKUST stresses the importance of developing the right skill sets to be attractive to potential recruiters.

The full transcripts of these interviews, including the perspectives of admissions officers on best practices when applying, can be read by clicking on the names of the admissions officers above or by visiting the GyanOne blog.

As these interviews highlight, applying to MBA programs is about meticulous research, thorough preparation, and strong fit demonstration. The best Business Schools in the world demand no less. Applicants / potential applicants looking for more information on B-school rankings can also check out GyanOne's listing of Business Schools by region, GMAT score, and average post-program salary.
